Amadeus Chun Kit LEUNG is a composer, conductor, violinist, music educator, and ordained licensed minister with over two decades of experience in music performance, education, composition, and theological scholarship. His multifaceted career reflects a deep commitment to artistic excellence, educational innovation, charitable service, and academic inquiry at the intersection of theology and the arts.
Amadeus began his musical journey at the age of eight when he commenced violin studies under the guidance of Prof. Chu Yao-wu, former Head of Strings at the Central Conservatory of Music, Prof. Tong Long, former Head of Orchestral Instruments at the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, and Cheung Wai Lap. His piano instruction was provided by Hui Ling. He subsequently developed his conducting skills under the mentorship of Prof. Alan Cumberland and Prof. Tong Long. In 2003, Amadeus graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Professional Diploma in Composition and Electronic Music. During his studies, he worked closely with Law Wing Fai in composition and studied electronic music under Prof. Clarence Mak and Prof. Lo Hau Man. His artistic development was further enriched through participation in masterclasses led by internationally acclaimed composers including Krzysztof Penderecki, Zygmunt Krauze, David Del Tredici, Robert Saxon, Xiaoyong Chen, Chen Yi, Qu Xiaosong, Doming Lam, Man-yee Lam, and Peter Kam.
From 2006 to 2018, Amadeus served at the International Christian Quality Music Secondary and Primary School in Hong Kong, the only school in Hong Kong specialising in music education. During his twelve-year tenure, he held multiple roles including violin and composition teacher for students from Year 1 through Year 12, orchestra conductor-in-residence, and technical supervisor responsible for sound and lighting operations. His dedication to music education prompted him to pursue additional studies in Christian education at the Research Institute of Christian Education, world music at the University of Sheffield, and creative industries management at the University of Hong Kong. In recognition of his contributions to music education, Amadeus was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award at the Tokyo International Youth Music Competition in 2019.
In 2011, Amadeus founded Symphonic Cordiality HK, a non-profit orchestra established with the mission of using music as a vehicle for charitable causes and community service. As the orchestra's conductor, he has led performances featuring renowned artists such as Irina Morozova, Anna Likhacheva, and Cecilia Long at prestigious venues including Shenzhen Concert Hall, Eslite Performance Hall in Taipei, and Taipei Municipal Nanmen Junior High School Concert Hall. Since 2018, Amadeus has expanded his professional activities into music technology and digital publishing, making his compositions, teaching materials, and educational applications available through multiple online platforms including YouTube, Facebook, SheetMusicPlus, Musescore, Google Play, Amazon, and SoundCloud, reaching a global audience of musicians, educators, and music enthusiasts.
Amadeus holds extensive academic credentials across multiple disciplines. He earned an MBA and an MSc in Big Data and Business Intelligence from Universidad Isabel I, a PhD in Biblical Studies from Queens College of Theology, and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from North Central Theological Seminary. Since July 2025, he has been serving as a postdoctoral research fellow at Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi Christian University, where he continues to advance his academic engagement in theology and the arts.
Amadeus holds several prestigious professional distinctions that recognise his contributions to music and the arts. He is a Fellow of the London College of Music (FLCM), a Fellow of the Guild of Musicians and Singers (FGMS), and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). He is a Member of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) and an Ordinary Member of the Royal Musical Association (RMA). He is an ordained licensed minister and a member of the National Association of Christian Ministers in the United States. In 2026, Amadeus founded the Bezalel Network, a volunteer organisation dedicated to community service and faith-based initiatives, further extending his commitment to charitable work and pastoral care.
Since 2022, Amadeus has been serving as Director of CKW Lofts Ltd. (Access4lofts Luton) and Leungs Property Management Ltd., while maintaining his active involvement in music as a violinist and teacher at Cambridge Alliance Church and Chinese School. His diverse professional portfolio demonstrates his ability to integrate creative, educational, business, ministerial, and community service responsibilities in service to multiple communities.
Amadeus's professional expertise encompasses music composition and orchestration across classical, sacred, and contemporary genres, violin performance and pedagogy, orchestral conducting, and music education from primary through conservatory levels.
